Megan the Bride... Background Information

I was born and raised in Richland, Washington.  Richland is in the south eastern corner of the state.  Like many places on the west coast, people were warm, laid back, and friendly.  I made amazingly wonderful friends during my time in Richland.  Two of the main friends on my wedding team, Libby Heeb (maid of honor) and Nisha Kapadia (cherished bridesmaid), have been my friends since middle school.  Libby, Roberta Wright (another close friend from high school) and I all went to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.  Roberta, if you are reading this, I hope all is well with you in New York.  I majored in a combined degree called biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology.  Another significant part of my life was joining the sorority Delta Gamma.  I made great friends at Whitman, and even closer friends in the Boulder alum chapter.  I look forward to reconnecting with friends during the wedding process.

Alan the Groom

I was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq.  I spent 23 years of my life there, then my family decided to move to Erbil, Iraq because it was safer the live there.  

I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 2005, and in August 2006 I arrived in Boulder, Colorado to pursue a Masters degree in Telecommunications.  Coming to Boulder was a big adventure for me.  I liked the place right away.  I like the people and made many great friends.  I also started to get to like football.  Life seemed great, but the best is yet to come...

Meeting Megan changed my life forever.  I liked everything about that girl: her smile, her looks, her laughs, her honesty... the list goes on.  I knew that Megan was the one, and I'm getting even more confident about that day after day.

I am currently patiently waiting for my work permit to arrive, so I can begin working in the telecommunications field.  I hope to work for some of the top telecom companies in the Denver Tech Center.  I am really enjoying the move to Littleton, but I will miss being close to the Colorado Buffaloes football games.  I will have to make the drive up north every once and a while.  Overall, our future looks bright.

Choosing the Location: Skamania Lodge

Thank you Dad!  I was brainstorming locations in the Tri-Cities, but my parents did not approve.  My dad came up with the idea of having the wedding at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington.  I first fell in love with Skamania Lodge in the early 1990s, not for its beautiful location, but for the fact that it had Barq's root beer on tap!  My love of the Lodge grew over the years as I came to appreciate the amazing seafood selection and the beautiful scenery.  In high school, I walked all over the grounds with my camera in hand to take photos for my photography class.  I have the best picture of my parents walking hand-in-hand down a path, with a light fog in the trees.  I got marked down for the fog by my teacher because he said I should have gotten more definition in the branches.  He was not very understanding.  The photo is still on our fridge in Richland, Washington.  The fridge hasn't changed much in the last eight years.  I love home.  

OK... Important news about Skamania:

For out of town guests, it is much cheaper to fly into the Portland, Oregon airport, than to fly into Pasco, Washington.  Our wedding planner recommends that guests rent a car in Portland and drive the 45-minutes to Stevenson, Washington.  It is a beautiful drive along the Columbia River Gorge.  You will all love it.  We will soon be reserving a block of rooms under the Bruemmer name.  The Lodge details are at the bottom bar of the page, so scroll down please.  We are hoping they will give us a deal.  The summer deal in 2008 was only $119 a night.  For a cheaper option, there is a Econo Lodge down the way.  www.econolodge.com 40 NE Second St, Stevenson, Washington (509) 427-5628
